An adventure ride deep in the Apuseni, Transylvania's quietest and least-travelled range. Gravel tracks, rocky trails and forest roads take you way beyond the paved roads, over lonely passes and through timber villages the world left behind.
The Apuseni is our home range. It's the quiet corner of Transylvania most people drive straight past: no tour buses, no crowds, just a maze of gravel and forest tracks climbing between limestone plateaus and high mountain pastures. We've spent years riding it, and this is the trip we put together to show you the version we know.
Over three riding days we head deep into the range together. We warm up on quiet mountain tarmac, then drop onto the dirt: open gravel, forest roads and a few rocky climbs up to viewpoints where the whole range opens up below you. It's proper off-road, but we keep it rewarding rather than scary, so a confident beginner or an intermediate rider can enjoy every kilometre without feeling out of their depth.
Out here you ride through remote villages, some still lived in, some all but abandoned, where wooden houses and hand-built haystacks stand exactly as they have for generations. We stop where it's worth stopping, swap a few words with the people who still live up here, and take our time. There's no rush and nothing to prove.
It's a four-day loop out of Cluj-Napoca. Day one you arrive, we sort the bikes and the paperwork and get to know each other over dinner; then it's three full days in the mountains before we roll back into the city. You ride with us, the founders, the whole way, and the route, the accommodation, the fuel and the bikes are already sorted. All you have to do is turn up and ride.

It might be a small adventure, but in many ways it's the flagship of our fleet. Approachable and easy to get on with for the more beginner riders, while the most experienced can still have a lot of fun on it — the low, manageable seat height helps just about anyone feel at home. It can do long days on the street, with a sweet sounding engine and smooth power delivery. Where the 450MT really shines for us is off the beaten path, as it is one of the most capable offerings in our fleet. They come equipped with sturdy hand guards, skid plates and crash bars, ready to tackle anything up to rocky mountain roads. For us, it's the go-to motorcycle for exploring the backcountry.
Roll into Cluj, meet the crew and the rest of the group, and pick up your bike. We handle the paperwork, run a gear check and a quick bike briefing, then spend the evening together so everyone starts day two on the same page.
The first full riding day. We leave Cluj behind and climb into the Apuseni, warming up on mountain tarmac before the gravel begins — wide-open tracks, forest roads and the first big viewpoints over the range.
Our biggest day in the mountains. We push deeper into the backcountry, linking high plateaus, rocky climbs and half-forgotten villages well off the tourist map, with plenty of stops to take it all in.
A last morning of riding loops us back toward Cluj. We finish the final tracks, drop into the city by afternoon, hand back the bikes and say our goodbyes before you head home.
Day 1 is arrival, handover and paperwork in Cluj; the last day brings you back to the city to depart. That leaves three full days of riding in between.
