An alpine adventure based in Vatra Dornei, deep in Bucovina. Ride street and off-road through the Dorna mountains on the edge of Călimani National Park, with high alpine views just minutes from town.
Bucovina is Romania's far north, a green, forested corner most riders never reach. We base this tour in Vatra Dornei, a small mountain town ringed by peaks, and use it as a launchpad into the Dorna mountains. Within minutes of leaving town you're already climbing into proper alpine terrain.
This is some of the most special riding in the country. The Dorna range sits right on the edge of Călimani National Park, Romania's largest volcanic massif, with wide alpine meadows, spruce forest, and ridgelines that open up in every direction. The scenery changes fast, from river valleys to bare mountain tops, and you're rarely more than a short ride from a view that stops you in your tracks.
Expect a real mix of street and off-road. Smooth mountain roads connect the valleys, then gravel tracks, forestry roads, and open climbs take you up where the cars can't go. We tune the off-road to your level, so it stays fun rather than frightening.
The tour runs four to five days. Day one is an easy transfer up to Vatra Dornei, then two to three full days exploring the Dorna mountains from our base, before we head back home. There are no fixed dates and no fixed itinerary. Tell us how many days you have, your riding level, and what you want to see, and we build it around you, self-guided or fully guided, with a custom quote.
